The national AutoPASS regulations state that you must have a valid AutoPASS agreement and a correctly attached tag in order to receive discounts and other benefits.

When you receive your new tag, it is important that you install it in the correct vehicle immediately, so you avoid incorrect registration at toll crossings and on ferry trips.

The tag should be attached to the top of the windscreen, to the right of the mirror, ensuring it does not obstruct the driver’s view. Many cars have a shaded area at the top of the windscreen; the tag should be attached within this area. For lorries or buses with large windscreens, the tag should be attached at the bottom of the windscreen. Make sure it is not hidden behind the windscreen wiper or anything similar. It is best to attach the tag when the windscreen is warm.

How to attach the tag

1. Clean the area of the windscreen where the new tag will be attached.

2. Remove the backing from one side of the Velcro and attach it to the marked area on the tag.

3. Remove the backing from the other side of the Velcro and press the tag onto the windscreen for 10 seconds.

How to remove the tag

1. The old fastening can be very secure. Use adhesive remover or washing-up liquid to loosen it. Let the liquid run from above and allow it to work for a few minutes.

2. Use a plastic card or similar tool to remove the fastening. Avoid metal objects that might damage the windscreen. Finally, clean the windscreen.

3. The windscreen is now ready for the new tag.
